Materials: The soles are made from 70% recovered plastic and 30% natural latex. The leather is premium leather from Italy, the insole is PU material (an organic polymer) and the laces are 100% cotton.
Production: Satoshi's sole partner Bolflex has been working to reduce its environmental carbon footprint, they've cut the waste inherent to the manufacture of soles in half and work in accordance to these regulations: ISO2871-Met. B-2008 / EN ISO 20872-2001 / PT ISO17707-2003 / PT ISO20871-2001 / REACH.
Satoshi also partner with Neyret, to create the QR code tag. This factory is certified by OEKO-TEX®, GOTS, GRS, PEFC, FSC, Nickel free, PVC free, phthalates free, ISO 9001 and ISO 14001.
The leather comes from Italy, the factory Thimeco is certified by the ISO 9001 and the ISO 14001.
Packaging & Delivery: All of Satoshi's shoe boxes are made with recycled cardboard from Portugal. The brand are aware of their carbon emission across the supply chain and choose couriers that limit carbon emissions.
Use: By hosting a digital twin of these sneakers on blockchain, Satoshi make sure that customers have access to any information regarding their product. Once received, you can scan the QR code on the shoe’s tongue to then claim ownership of the product and have access to all information, such as suppliers, materials, origin, authenticity model, and instructions that stay with the products throughout their lifecycle.
Disposal: The brand are currently working on a recycle, resale and repair strategy, they want to enable customers to give back their products at the end of their life cycle.
Responsibility: Satoshi partner with 1% For The Planet, with 1% of their sales going to the organisation to benefit the environment. The brand endeavour to be increasingly more responsible, from the the footwear and concepts they produce to their entire business model. Satoshi Studios also work with Pur Projet, who work to preserve the Planet’s ecosystem, primarily through Reforestation. Furthermore, each pair of shoes from the brand are propogated on blockchain. Blockchain is an excellent way to increase transparency now and better responsibility in the future. Blockchain can also provide a trustworthy infrastructure for brands and customers, whilst tackling the problem of counterfeiting and the lack of transparency in the fashion industry.
