Designing products responsibly, for people who believe in true craftsmanship.

They have declared an eyewear revolution, by way of ensuring their sunglasses and spectacles, in a range of shapes and colours, are truly sustainable. Their latest collection comes in three styles: Principe, Monti and Løkka. Each taking inspiration from the different creative neighbourhoods of the world.
Did you know? 60-80% of the plastic used in the production of industry-standard sunglasses is either wasted in landfill or incinerated by factories around the world. To fix this problem MONC have introduced The Conscious Collection; using sustainable materials across the entire product experience.
Firstly, bio-acetate frames, which are a non-petroleum-based alternative to their toxic predecessor and is 100% biodegradable and recyclable. So, if you do lose your sunglasses (it happens to be best of us!), this bio-acetate will biodegrade in around 180 days*.
MONC haven’t just stopped at the frames. The mineral glass used is a scratch resistant alternative to plastic and like the majority of glass, can be recycled after use. The leather case is sustainably sourced, originating as a bi-product of the food industry and the cleaning cloth is cellulose fibres that if lost or disposed, will biodegrade.
Finally, it’s something that plays such a small part in our experience with products but leaves a lasting impression: packaging. Sourced and made in the U.K., this packaging is made using upcycled coffee cups, making it a totally circular material; recycled and recyclable.
*MONC do state that this would be 115 days if composted. So, it really depends if you happened to lose them in a compost bin or not.
Sustainability: Bio-acetate, mineral glass, vegetable tanned leather, Cupro cloth (made from cotton linter) which otherwise goes to waste, prioritise U.K suppliers, small batch production, packaging from recycled paper cups, working towards a closed loop system.
Ethics: Personal relationships with Italian craftsmen, ensuring optimal working conditions.
