Contemporary fashion merged with innovative design, rainwear made from recycled plastic bottles.
Rethink Rainwear ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Founded in 2017 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Maium set out to solve one issue: how do we avoid getting soaked when we cycle from meeting to meeting in the city? Traditional raincoats can protect our upper half but often leave our legs exposed to the elements; fast forward to sitting uncomfortably in a meeting or holding your trousers under the dryer in the toilets – it’s happened before.
We can’t change the weather, but we can change our raincoats. MAIUM, founded by two friends from Amsterdam, have created the first raincoat that can easily be transformed into a poncho using the side zippers. It’s a functional and stylish solution to keeping you looking smart (and dry) no matter the weather.
The raincoat is made from 80% recycled polyester and 20% polyurethane (the layer to make it waterproof). The materials are sourced from China and the factory is certified Oeko-Tex Class I and II and the Business and Social Compliance Initiative (BSCI). To keep this simple, these certificates ensure fair, safe and healthy working conditions for the factory workers. MAIUM also visit the factory once a year to maintain a healthy relationship with their supplier and check-in on the working conditions for themselves.
From raincoat to poncho, for a dry commute.
Sustainability: Use recycled polyester, developed in factories with Oeko-Tex Class 1 and 2 certification and the Business and Social Complain Initiative (BSCI).
Ethics: Business and Social Complain Initiative (BSCI) and a personal relationship with the factory to ensure fair, safe and healthy working conditions are upheld.
